Dec 18, 2011 · I got a stripped PSA Upper for 49.99 and a complete Hammer forged-chrome lined FN barreled upper, and one of their lower parts build kits. The finishes on these parts was very nice. Assembly of the lower took me an hour. I didnt want to muck up my first build by rushing. The build was easy with instructions form ar15.com.

May 3, 2024 · The trigger guard is integrated into the forging for the lower. It is large enough for a gloved finger to easily fit inside. The back of the lower forging more closely resembles the LR-308 pattern than the AR-10 pattern. The lower is forged from 7075 T6 aluminum and is finished in the same hardcoat anodizing that the upper is finished with. One of the BIG CHANGES in the Gen 3 is the welcomed addition of an adjustable gas block. Extrapolating out, I fully expect that the Palmetto State Armory AR-15 would turn in 1-1.5″groups with longer bullets at 100 yards. For more typical 55-grain FMJ rounds, something in the 2-3″ range with a decent 4x optic and shooting prone seems reasonable.

The receiver, bolt, and associated components are all clean and free from machine chatter. The magazine release is stiff, but not too stiff. The bolt release / catch stiff, but not too stiff, and the upper to lower receiver fit is just about perfect. Again, I am impressed with how well PSA has been refining their products.
